D. Scott Sutherland

Scott is a Partner specializing in providing auditing, accounting and consulting services to closely-held businesses in the Western New York area. His current clients include businesses in the construction, manufacturing, distribution and various service industries. Scott also has significant experience with the bankruptcy system and expertise in analyzing and consulting on internal control systems. Scott was instrumental in the firm successfully obtaining a contract to perform auditing services for the United States government through the General Services Administration.

Prior to joining the firm in 1997, Scott was with a local accounting firm where he was responsible for supervision of accounting and tax services to a diverse client base mainly encompassing closely-held companies in the manufacturing, retail, wholesale, service industry and non-profit arenas.

His selected experiences include:

  • Performs audits of individual bankruptcy petitions for the United States Trustees, resulting in the identification of undisclosed or under valued assets and income in most cases.
  • Participation in various business process reviews and due diligence projects.
  • Delivered an internal control seminar to over 200 Chapter 13 bankruptcy trustees for the Department of Justice's new trustee training program.
